Important Announcement
MAGiS is farewelling National Coordinator Carmel Taffa after 2 years in the role. During her time Carmel has provided valuable support and companionship to many young adults in their journeys to find the MAGiS, most notably through immersions to Indonesia and India, and World Youth Day Madrid. We wish Carmel well in her future professional endeavours, and look forward to her ongoing friendship. We thank her for her contributions to the MAGiS ministry. Carmel's last day will be Friday March 9.
In line with a restructure of MAGiS, the role of National Coordinator is being replaced with that of Director for Spirituality and Service. The Board has been listening to the MAGiS community ask for support with formation for some time now, and is at one with understanding the importance of this need. This new role has been designed to address that need and provide greater spiritual direction to, and formation of, young adults within the ministry.
Rachel McLoughlin has been appointed acting Director. Rachel has been involved with MAGiS since 2007 and with the MAGiS Board since 2009 as the CLC representative. She has most recently completed an internship at Campion Centre for Ignatian Spirituality. We are most grateful to her for her leadership and continuing support of MAGiS.
Over the coming week, we will be providing a more detailed communication about the changes. We understand change can be unsettling, and in the meantime, should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact any of the Board members that represent the five Ignatian Orders:

An Affirmation for Young People

MAGiS members attended a gathering of Jesuits and lay partners on 25 January 2012 at St Ignatius College Riverview for Fr General Adolfo Nicolas' reception on his visit to Australia.
The young people were particularly affirmed as Fr Nicolas identified the formation of young people as a central concern for the Society of Jesus in the 21st century.
'We cannot build our societies unless we respect, we honour and we serve the young people in our midst. They are the ones with the imagination, with the energy, with desire to change things, and they are the ones who are going to be our best partners'
-Fr Adolfo Nicolas, Superior General of the Society of Jesus

Like One of Us
Daniel MacMahon, MAGiS NSW member, felt privileged to be among the gathering at St Ignatius College Riverview for Fr General Adolfo Nicolas' Sydney visit. He is pictured above, second from the left, listening to Fr General Adolfo Nicolas on the right. Beside him is Catherine Voumard of MAGiS South Australia and Fr Ardi Handojoseno SJ.
"This group of people had gathered in the spirit of the Society of Jesus, from which a sense of celebration, community and enlivened tradition was palpable."

Have you ever looked at a beautiful sunset and felt as if your heart was going to burst? Have you ever given of your time, talent, skill or a little piece of who you are and felt that you had something worthwhile to give and perhaps you wanted to get more involved, to offer more of yourself to the world?
These moments are what MAGiS is about: the desire and inspiration for us to seek more, to be more, to let go of what holds us back.
