What is MAGiS?

MAGiS is when you go for it!

Have you ever looked at a beautiful sunset and felt as if your heart was going to burst? Have you ever given of your time, talent, skill or a little piece of who you are and felt that you had something worthwhile to give and perhaps you wanted to get more involved, offer more?

These moments are what MAGiS is about: the desire and inspiration for us to seek more, to be more, to let go of what holds us back.

We are able seek and be more through MAGiS, the long-term project designed to foster Ignatian Spirituality in young adults aged 18 to 30. MAGiS aims to produce leaders—people with a sense of God’s place in their lives and a capacity to do something to build a better world! Read more....

'I'm really interested in how everyone else lives out their lives according to what they believe. It's terrific to see yourself as part of such a big group. You realise you're not odd or alone.' - Bridget

MAGiS appoints new National Coordinator

The new National Coordinator of MAGiS, Carmel Traffa, says she hopes to continue building on the group's sense of community and to give young people the resources they need to become leaders. Carmel recently took up the reigns of the Ignatian young adult program, which is supported by the Loreto Sisters (IBVM), the Faithful Companions of Jesus (FCJ), the Religious of the Sacred Heart (RSCJ), the Sisters of Charity (RSC) and the Jesuits (SJ). Read the MAGiS08 Anniversary Publication

Late last year we asked you to tell us what you thought about MAGiS08, and you delivered: the result is the newly-released MAGiS08 Anniversary Publication, which summarises the findings of the MAGiS08 Review, in which all those involved in the event were asked to participate. Download the publication to see what everyone had to say!

MAGiS unveils its Summer Programme!

It's time to start planning your summer with the help of the MAGiS 2009/2020 Summer Programme. Take part in a retreat locally, abroad - or both! From 13 to 17 December 2009 MAGiS National will offer an Ignatian Retreat at the Jesuit property at Sevenhill, South Australia. This is open to all members of MAGiS and our hope is to have a number of participants from each state. It offers the opportunity for young adults to experience Ignatian spirituality and at the same time spend quality time with God and one another. For more information, email us at info@magis.org.au. And from 8 - 22 January MAGiS will lead an experiment to the Philippines. Click here for more information.

MAGiS Sundays These fortnightly gatherings of young adults aged 18-30 offer young adults the opportunity to be part of a faith community, deepen their relationship with God through community prayer, explore personal life experiences using the tools of Ignatian Spirituality and encounter networks to live a faith that does justice.
